Okay so the first
week has gone by and so far we have a good start. In order to
increase efficiency we have split into three different groups; the
groups being fundraising, marketing, and research. I belong to the
marketing group and our main goal to spread that our organization exists to as
many people as possible using whatever methods we can think of. I am
working with Jalen, John, Dan, Evan, Neal, and people from other groups such as
Casey. Personally I have worked on the action plan for the group as
well as thought of some of the ideas that we will be using, such as the video.
I plan on making some sort of video to explain what it is we are trying to do
and will help motivate people to donate or just spread the word. I have thought
about getting the Interact Club involved somehow because if we could
then it could reach more motivated people and will make them more inclined to
donate. If we could make some sort of deal with the Interact Club
in which the people who donated some sort of club credit then it will
lead to a much higher amount of donations. The problem with that is that I
would have to talk to Mr. Edder who runs the club and it would be hard to find
a credit reward system that we would all agree on. Another problem would be
getting the video on the announcement which is where the most people
will be affected by it. This may be a slight problem but it is not too hard to
overcome. I know a few of us have friends in WTV and I am sure it won’t
be too hard to allow the video to be played on the announcements. Another
problem my group is running into is the amount of people. We do not have enough
people for our group, not a big problem because people from other groups can
join. Evan already joined our group and we are receiving help from
other groups. Another thing I have been thinking about is how people seem to be
"locked" into their groups. I think that in order to
increase efficiency the groups need to be more open and have people
who work in multiple groups in order to allow ideas and information
to flow faster. So far I think the outreach is going quite well; we still have
a far way to go but we have taken good first steps and I
truly believe that by the time this ends we will have really helped
some people.
